ODDISEA The Band
ODDISEA's main focus is writing, recording, and performing unique music with no boundaries, music that goes beyond the fixed ideas of genre and instrumentation. Formed by three music students from Los Angeles, Christian E. Avalos, Hirotaka Inuzuka, and Efren Garcia, ODDISEA spent 2004 composing and arranging their music.
In the summer of 2005, ODDISEA went on to produce their first EP record, BEING and FEELING, at SouthWest Sound in Sierra Madre, California. Engineered by Devin Thomas and Irvin “Magic” Kramer, BEING and FEELING delivers to listeners ODDISEA’s raw energy and emotions.
In October 2006, joined by Chris Meszler, a drummer from Baltimore, ODDISEA became active as a performing band and premiered BEING and FEELING on November 11, 2006. ODDISEA plans to continue performing in the Los Angeles area in the coming year.
What ODDISEA Stands for in Today’s Music Scene
When you see ODDISEA play live, you will notice that we play all kinds of music from alternative rock tunes, jam songs, rigidly written almost-classical-like pieces to plain experimental synthesizer music. That’s because we want to show our appreciation for the music that influenced us.
So what does ODDISEA stand for? We stand for the celebration of quality music. We play music for our love of music. It is all clear and natural to us to think this way. Hope you will join us someday to express your love for music.
About the Name ODDISEA
Pronounced as odyssey, the name ODDISEA means that its band members are taking a long musical journey, entering unknown waters, taking new approaches to every piece of music. We envision our music as energetic, tranquil, rough and sometimes magnificent like the ocean.

Efren Garcia
ODDISEA's bassist, Efren Garcia, was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He graduated from the California State University Los Angeles where he received his bachelor degree in Music. He had been a big music enthusiast since the age of 7, and finally at the age of 14, with his first job washing garbage trucks, he saved up enough money to buy his first guitar. After teaching himself to play, he then began composing and teaching his childhood buddies how to play other instruments. They formed a group first called Euphoria, later changed to Passengers, who worked on writing songs endlessly for about 6 years, and never really performed. The group disbanded and about a year later the former guitarist in the band, Christian Avalos, rounded up a new lineup with Efren on bass, and now leading front man Hiro Inuzuka, on guitar and vocal.
